There is so much over and done with that was essential to yesterdays survival but not todays!
Yellow Pages; Can't even remember, the last time I looked something up in a phone book! It's too easy now to ask Siri.
Phones constantly attached to a wall; max of 6 feet radius if you were lucky is all you had, Used to wrap up in the cord like a mummy! Quite often pulled the cord out of the wall, disconnecting the call!
Phones in the shape of lips, Micky Mouse, etc... The variety was becoming endless, when it ended!
Pay phones everywhere that cost 10 cents and later 25 cents.
Paper Maps Paper maps, no GPS. I used to get reprimanded for creasing the maps in the wrong spot!
Smoking was allowed in hospitals and restaurants.
The milkman came weekly and picked up our jugs for refill. We actually had a milk box.
Pictures taken required a film drop off and waiting a week to be developed to later see your photos. There were no digital cameras and camera phones were not a thing! Glad that improved!!
No seatbelts in some cars; moms would throat check their children at stops!!
Blockbuster & several other movie stores with "forbidden" areas.
10 cent candy, candy cigarettes, Bonkers! So Sad!!
Vinyl records & amazing Turn Tables; except for the awesome few music lovers still left in this world!
Live Radio song requests
The Game Boy; miss that!
Hand Held Game Device MAD Magazine
Drive-in Theaters; so, so so sad!
Stick Shifts; miss that, so much more control!
Books in print; still buy paper copy, old fashioned like that!
Parents trusted anyone and everyone to watch their children. I used to put ads in the local newspaper and everyone called!
Huge Console TV's with Rabbit Ears; if you could get a friend to hold still for long enough and in the right position, you may have made it through a show and seen it clearly!
Kiddie rides in stores; what happened to that?
At least 21 things; there is so much more that is no longer in existence, missed or not! There is so much today that is essential to our lives that didn't matter a bit in the past! No one looked for it, needed it or made it an essential in their lives. If we went back to that day it would be chaos and mayhem! I am glad that I remember how it was once done!!
